About NHANES Database
The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is a CDC program of studies designed to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States. The data is made available as SAS binary files by the CDC on their website on a per-survey basis. This tool provides a containerized workflow (implemented in R) to programmatically download the data for all of the surveys available at the CDC and populate them into a Microsoft SQL Server relational database. Also included are example R scripts that demonstrate how to connect to the database, pull out data, and analyze it.
